Hi, my name is Murice Miller and my family and I are excited to be a part of the Moab family. Moab has been a blessing to us and by God’s Grace we daily to seek to be a blessing back to Moab. We understand that Moab has many needs and one in particular is the need for affordable housing. We have been fortunate to have started our journey of living in Moab in the summer of 2015 by way of Cinema Courts, which is a low income apartment dwelling. We found out about the possibility of becoming home owners in Moab through two programs, the Mutual Self Help through the USDA-Rural Development 502 loan program and Community Rebuilds whose mission is to “build energy-efficient housing, provide education on sustainability, and improve the housing conditions of the workforce through an affordable program”. We chose to pursue home ownership through Community Rebuilds in 2016, and two years later we are more than happy with our decision. We are currently building our house with an amazing team. Through this blog, you will get to know the directors, the lead builders, the apprentices, and the interns. I am looking forward to getting to know them and I know that you will enjoy getting to know them. Throughout this process, we will share ways of how you could be involved and also share with you on why our house looks different from most, well all of, the Community Rebuilds houses in Moab thus far. We are also not the only family building through Community Rebuilds this fall. Ms. Jessica Lawley is also buidling. So please stay tuned and enjoy.
